About Us

A little bit about who we are, what we do, and why we do it.

Junior-I Productions is an independent film and media production company built by young creatives who simply love telling stories.


Founded by filmmaker Godfrey Jr. Selopetsa, Junior-I started with a simple idea: make good stories, make them look good, and have fun while doing it. We develop and produce original projects across film, music videos and digital media, working with creatives both in front of and behind the camera.


We're still young, we're still learning, and we're still figuring things out as we go, but that's kind of the point. Junior-I is a space for young creatives to experiment, collaborate, take risks and turn the ideas in their heads into something people can actually watch.


At the heart of everything we do is storytelling. Whether it's a short film, a music video or something completely unexpected, we're here to make work that feels fresh, looks good and, most importantly, is worth watching.

Godfrey Jr. Selopetsa

Godfrey Jr. Selopetsa

Founder & Film Producer

Godfrey Jr. Selopetsa is a South African film producer and screenwriter, and the founder of Junior-I Productions. With a passion for storytelling and the process of bringing ideas to life, Godfrey is interested in both the creative and practical sides of filmmaking. His work spans producing, screenwriting and visual storytelling, with a particular interest in stories that feel honest, entertaining and a little different. While he initially approached filmmaking from a creative perspective, it was the producing side that really caught his attention. He found himself drawn to the planning, organisation and problem-solving that happens behind the scenes, from developing an idea and building a production plan, to managing budgets, paperwork, schedules and the many moving pieces that eventually bring a project together. In fact, he enjoys paperwork probably more than a filmmaker should. This is what led him to major in Film Producing rather than Directing, and eventually to creating Junior-I Productions. Through Junior-I, Godfrey hopes to create meaningful opportunities for creatives while developing original projects that audiences genuinely want to watch. For him, filmmaking isn't only about the final product, it's about the people, the process and everything that happens along the way to get a story onto the screen.

S'bahle Hleza

S'bahle Hleza

Film Director

S'bahle Hleza is a South African film director and multidisciplinary artist whose work is rooted in emotionally driven, character-centred storytelling. A qualified filmmaker with a BA in Film and Television Production from SAE Institute, she works across directing, writing, performance, choreography, acting coaching, casting and creative entrepreneurship. Her dedication to the arts has earned her recognition including Top Director at the Connie Chiume Programme, Best Artist at City Varsity (2023), Best Director for Caged Love (2025), and Best Film Documentary for Tears of Nigel (2025). Sbahle is a co-founder of Mbawula Modelling Agency, and the founder of Bent Media House and Sbahleza Creative House, an initiative focused on developing young creative talent. As a filmmaker, she is passionate about stories that explore love, loss, identity and human resilience. She believes storytelling has the power to create meaningful conversations, connect audiences to authentic experiences and give voice to emotions that often remain unheard.

Palesa Mofokeng

Production Manager

Creative work is often spoken about in terms of vision. Palesa Mofokeng is interested in the infrastructure that allows that vision to become tangible. With a background in film production and marketing management, Palesa understands that good ideas require more than creative instinct. They require the intelligent coordination of people, time, budgets and resources, with each element moving towards a shared objective. For Palesa, project management is the quiet mechanics behind compelling work: keeping the machinery moving, the resources aligned and the creative impulse intact from conception through execution.

Caged Love

Written and directed by S'Bahle Hleza, Caged Love is a short film shot and co-produced by Junior-I Productions.

The film is an intimate reflection on the nature of love and the ways it can either liberate or restrain us, depending on the emotional walls we construct within ourselves and within our relationships. Through quiet tension and reflective storytelling, Caged Love examines the delicate space between connection, vulnerability, and self-imposed confinement.

On My Mind MV

Directed by S'bahle Hleza, and Produced by Junior-I Productions, On My Mind explores themes of love, emotional safety, and the quiet reassurance that comes from being with someone who truly understands you. Through intimate imagery and expressive performance, the video reflects the feeling of having someone constantly on your mind, not out of longing, but out of comfort, trust, and connection.

KitKat TVC

A short commercial concept inspired by the iconic message, “Have a break, have a KitKat.” The piece reflects on the importance of pausing when life becomes overwhelming and taking a moment to reset. Created as a student production, Junior-I Productions handled the production design and edit, helping shape the visual look of the commercial.

Forgive Me I’m Still Growing Up MV

Forgive Me I’m Still Growing Up is a visually expressive music video produced and edited by Junior-I Productions. The piece captures a reflective journey of growth, vulnerability, and self-discovery through thoughtful composition and emotional visual storytelling.

However, Dylan is hiding a devastating secret that will have far-reaching consequences, ultimately leading to the ‘death’ of their marriage.

About The Story

Death of My Marriage is a 60-minute drama about love, marriage, and the secrets that can threaten to destroy both. The story follows Thembi, an ambitious young woman whose chance encounter with a mysterious stranger named Tshepo unexpectedly blossoms into love. Three years later, the two are newlyweds, starting a new chapter together and preparing to build the life they have always dreamed of. But when Thembi discovers that she is pregnant, their picture-perfect beginning takes an unexpected turn. What should be a moment of celebration instead exposes a deep conflict within their marriage, forcing Thembi to question the man she thought she knew. As tensions rise and the couple prepares for a major move to Houston, Texas, hidden truths begin to surface. What starts as a disagreement over their future soon becomes a much deeper battle involving trust, guilt, and the consequences of choices made long before their relationship began. Sometimes, the hardest part of marriage isn't falling in love. It's discovering who you married.

Dylan Jacobs

Luwaidon is an artist who craves telling stories and evoking emotions in his audience. He works across different mediums to better understand and explore the many forms of storytelling, from the physicality of theatre to the tone of commercials. He carries a constant ball of creative energy, always looking for ways to make his performances as captivating as possible. Ironically, he often takes on larger-than-life characters, while personally he is one of the calmest, most grounded and soft-spoken individuals. That contrast may seem surreal, but it is very much a part of who he is. Luwaidon adapts deeply to every character he takes on, almost to the point of shape-shifting. For him, the goal is simple: whenever an audience sees him perform, he wants them to believe.

Thembi Jacobs

Nkazimulo “Manana” is a South African performer with a passion for bringing stories and characters to life. With a background in both live performance and acting for camera, she enjoys exploring the different ways a story can connect with an audience. Her experience spans theatre and film, with acting credits including the theatre production Shwele Bawo and the film On Edge, which was showcased as part of the AFDA Graduation Film Festival at Rosebank Cinema Nouveau. Manana holds a Higher Certificate in Acting for Camera, and a Bachelor of Arts in Live Performance, both from AFDA: The School for the Creative Economy. Alongside acting, she has developed skills in voice-over, media presenting, movement and singing, allowing her to approach performance from a variety of angles. Fluent in English, isiZulu and Sesotho, Manana brings versatility and a willingness to fully immerse herself in the characters and stories she takes on. Whether on stage or in front of the camera, she is driven by the opportunity to create performances that feel authentic and leave an impression.
